Privacy policy

This policy covers the Down to Clown app for iPhone (on the App Store) and Android (on Google Play), and the website at downtoclown.app. All of them are provided by LaBarge Holdings LLC (“we”, “us”), the developer named on both store listings.

The app

Down to Clown turns a photo of an event flyer into a calendar event. It doesn’t need your data to do that, so it doesn’t collect any. The iPhone and Android versions work the same way.

What the app can access, and why

• Camera: to photograph a flyer. Used only when you tap to scan one.
• Photos: to read a flyer image you pick, or one you share into the app from another app. The app only sees the images you choose, not your whole photo library.
• Calendar: to add an event after you tap I’m Down, to check whether you’ve already added it, and to notice if you later delete it from your calendar. The app looks only for its own events and events that match the flyer; it doesn’t copy or keep your other calendar entries.

Each permission is asked for only when you first use the feature that needs it. You can turn any of them off at any time: on iPhone in Settings → Down to Clown, on Android in Settings → Apps → Down to Clown → Permissions. The app simply won’t be able to do that one thing without it. If you decline calendar access, your plan is still saved in the app and you can add it to your calendar yourself.

When you share an image into the app from another app (the “Share to Down to Clown” option), the image is copied into the app’s private storage on your phone so the app can read it. Nothing is sent anywhere.

Where your data lives

Flyers are read entirely on your phone, using its built-in text recognition: Apple’s Vision framework on iPhone and Google’s on-device ML Kit on Android. QR codes are decoded on the phone too. The photo is never uploaded: Down to Clown has no server to send it to.

The flyer images and event details you save are stored in the app’s private storage on your phone. We have no access to them.

When you add an event, it’s written to the calendar you choose on your phone. If that calendar syncs to an account you’ve set up, such as iCloud or Google, the event becomes part of that account just like one you typed in yourself. That syncing is handled by your phone and your calendar provider under their terms; Down to Clown isn’t part of it. Your phone’s own backups (iCloud or Google backup) may include the app’s data if you have them turned on; those are controlled by you and your provider, not by us.

What the app doesn’t do

• No account or sign-in, so there’s no profile of you.
• No analytics, tracking, advertising or crash-reporting code, and no third-party SDKs that collect data.
• No network code: the app never connects to the internet. The Android version doesn’t even have the internet permission.
• No tracking across other companies’ apps or websites.
• No selling or sharing of data, because none is collected.

Deleting your data

In the app, open Settings and choose Delete all plans and flyers. That removes every saved plan and flyer from your phone. Events already on your calendar stay there, since they belong to you; delete them in your calendar app if you want them gone. Deleting the app also removes everything it stored. Because we never receive your app data, there’s nothing for us to delete on our side.

This website

downtoclown.app is a plain information site. It has no forms, no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no third-party trackers, and it doesn’t ask you for any personal information. Its fonts and images are served from our own site, so visiting it doesn’t send your details to anyone else. If you email us, we use your message and address only to reply, and delete them when they’re no longer needed.

Hosting, logs and security

The site is hosted by Laravel Cloud, which runs on Amazon Web Services and Cloudflare, and is only served over an encrypted connection (HTTPS). Like almost every website, our host keeps short-lived technical logs of requests (such as IP address, browser type and the page requested) to keep the site secure and working. We don’t use them to track or identify visitors, and our host processes them only to provide its service.

The site itself sets no cookies. Our host’s security network may set one strictly necessary cookie (__cf_bm, from Cloudflare) that helps tell people from bots. It expires after 30 minutes and isn’t used for tracking or advertising.

Your choices

• App data: it’s all on your phone. Delete it with Settings → Delete all plans and flyers, or by deleting the app. Revoke any permission in your phone’s settings at any time.
• Emails you send us: ask us at hello@downtoclown.app and we’ll delete our copy of your messages within 30 days, usually much sooner.

Depending on where you live (for example in the EU, UK or California), you may have further rights over your personal data, including to complain to your local data protection authority. We’ll honor any of these requests; just email us.

Children

Down to Clown isn’t directed at children under 13. Neither the app nor this website collects information from anyone of any age.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we’ll update the date at the top of this page. If the app or the website ever starts collecting any data, this policy will say so before that happens.
