Down to Clown is on its way to the App Store (iPhone) and Google Play (Android). The download links will appear on the home page as soon as it’s out.

Three ways: tap Scan a Flyer to use the camera, tap Choose a Photo to pick a screenshot or picture, or share an image to Down to Clown from Photos, Instagram, your browser or any other app. On iPhone, look for Down to Clown in the share sheet’s row of apps (tap More if it isn’t there yet).

Before you tap I’m Down, the review screen shows everything it found. Tap Edit Details to change the name, date, time or place. Where the flyer was vague (no AM or PM, for example) the app tells you what it guessed.

Down to Clown asks for calendar access the first time you tap I’m Down. If you said no, your plan is still saved in My Plans, and the app can open your calendar’s own “new event” screen instead. To allow access later:

• iPhone: Settings → Down to Clown → Calendars → Full Access.
• Android: Settings → Apps → Down to Clown → Permissions → Calendar.

On Android, if your phone has no calendar account set up, events go into a local “Down to Clown” calendar on the phone.

Your phone’s calendar, and whichever account it syncs with (iCloud or Google Calendar, for example). The app shows the calendar’s name when it adds an event.

Yes. When a flyer lists more than one date, you get a list to tick the ones you want. Each becomes its own plan, sharing the same saved flyer.

Flyers that say things like “every Sunday” are added as repeating events. On iPhone, trickier patterns (like “first Saturday of the month”) repeat properly too. Android calendars can only store simple repeats, so there the trickier pattern is written into the event’s notes rather than silently dropped.

It works entirely offline, and it never uploads anything. Flyers are read on your phone with its built-in text recognition, and the app has no code that goes online (the Android version doesn’t even have the internet permission). See the privacy policy.

Open Settings in the app and tap Delete all plans and flyers. Events already on your calendar stay there; remove them in your calendar app if you want.
